Meetups FAQs

FAQs

What happens at our events?

We meet up in person at least once per month in each area. Sevenoaks & Tunbridge Wells.

Our monthly meet ups include:

  • Expert topic talks to help us learn new skills to improve our businesses
  • Discussions and brainstorms to share ideas, get feedback and learn from one another
  • Structured activities to help us meet and get to know one another and spread the word about our businesses without any pressure
  • Informal networking time.
  • We also have social events, fun activities (for example chocolate making, salad jars, garden parties, sledging, archery and a campfire), occasional meals out and our super-popular big annual speed networking event.

Can you come as guest?

New guests are always very welcome to come along. You can come up to 3 times as a guest and there’s absolutely no pressure whatsoever to join if it’s not for you. If something takes your fancy, just come along and try a group out. We regularly have new faces and you will be made to feel very welcome.

Nervous?

Please don’t be. We’ve all been there, we regularly have new people come along so you won’t be the only one. We know how nerve-wracking it can feel turning up to networking events, so you’ll be expected, personally greeted and settled into a group so that there’s none of that painful “working the room”. You will also be sent a list of who else is booked to come during the afternoon before the event so that you can take a quick look and prepare.

Who else will be there?

Lots of lovely, friendly and very “normal” local women just like you, who are also juggling running a business around their families. Everyone is there to learn, support one another and make new connections and would love to meet you.

Other than that, we are completely different:

  • Mums in Business is a space for all female business owners, whether mum’s to humans, or mums to pets or even plants. Whatever your juggle is you are welcome here. We have women with newborns to step-mums all the way to grandmothers, with every stage in between.
  • Women who are still in the “just thinking” stage all the way through to women with staff, premises and years of experience.
  • Craft businesses to professional firms. Business services to children’s activities. Plumbers to jewellers. Anything goes. If something takes your fancy, just come along and try a group out. We regularly have new faces and you will be made to feel very welcome.

Will there be children there?

Whilst we’re called Mums in business, we don’t actually bring our kids along to events because, frankly, it’s nice to escape them from time to time. So we meet up in the evening and it often involves wine! (Tea drinkers welcome!)

What happens if I love it and want to join?

Well firstly, we’ll be super happy to have you as an official part of the gang. If you join by the end of the day after the event then your guest fee will be refunded. Please note that we only allow limited numbers of each business type in each Home Group to protect everyone’s interests.
