What is Mums In Business Network?

MIB Network is run by women in business, for all women in business.
And while the name says “Mums”, you don’t actually have to be a mum to be part of this community.

At MIB, we recognise that modern life comes with many forms of responsibility. Whether you are raising children, supporting elderly parents, a step-mum, bonus mum, caring for family members, running a household, nurturing a business, a dog, a plant (or all of the above!) you are juggling a lot. We are a network for women balancing ambition with real life, in whatever shape that takes for you.

Since 2009, hundreds of women have joined the MIB Network, helping it grow into the supportive, down-to-earth and empowering community it is today.

One of the core parts of MIB is our inspiring and genuinely supportive networking events. These are designed to help you connect, learn and feel less alone on your journey. We are based in West Kent, with two groups operating in Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks, and members joining us from further afield including Maidstone and Orpington.

Running a business can be isolating at times. MIB exists to give you space to focus on yourself, meet inspiring women, share ideas and build real relationships. Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds, industries and life stages, with children ranging from newborn to fully grown, and with no children at all.

Who Is MIB Network For?

If you are a woman in business, this is for you.

Our groups are a real mix of women. Some are right at the idea stage, others have well-established businesses with teams behind them. If your business mostly lives on paper right now or you are managing employees and growth, it is all good. Promise.

Will there be children there?

While many of our members are mums, we do not bring children along to events. Our meet-ups are in the evening and are designed to give you space to focus on yourself, connect properly and enjoy good conversation without distraction.

So were we once. Taking that first step can feel like the hardest part, but it is often the most rewarding. As a guest, you are welcome to attend up to three events before deciding whether membership feels right for you. There is absolutely no pressure to join. We are just glad you gave it a try.

We get together twice a month, once in Tunbridge Wells and once in Sevenoaks for:

Plus, we also have a range of social events, the occasional meals out, co-working sessions and our invigorating annual speed networking event.

Our Community Facebook Group

We have a local community Facebook group that does what we do in-person, online: connecting local Mums in Business and providing a place to ask questions so we can all share knowledge. It’s all about uplifting and empowering others! 

Our Members-Only Facebook Group

We also have a closed Facebook group so we get to know other members a bit better. Especially if you’ve been going for years, it’s a space where you can retain those connections and get to know each other outside of meetings. Although we also use it to brainstorm, share news, plan (and be held accountable!) whilst also importantly celebrating our successes

Our History

Mums in Business began back in February 2009 as Tunbridge Wells Mums in Business. While we dropped the ‘Tunbridge Wells’ from the name in 2017, the ethos has always stayed the same: to inspire, connect and bring women in business together.

In 2010, MIB was taken over by one of its members, Claire Witz, who ran the network with care and dedication until stepping down at the end of 2022. From 2023, the group was led by business success coach Ali Tait, who continued to nurture and grow the community.

In December 2025, Mums in Business was taken over by Grainne Dunne. Having been part of the community and a strong believer in the power of supportive, local networking, Grainne is proud to carry MIB into its next chapter while staying true to everything that has made it such a valued space over the years.
